Indications:Enlarge small breasts, underdeveloped breasts, uneven breasts or breasts that have decreased in size after a women has had children. Procedure description:Breast Enlargement Plastic Surgery is done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. By surgically inserting an implant behind each breast, the results can be subtle to dramatic, depending on your preference. With a Breast Augmentation procedure, usually an incision is made under the breast, around the areola (the pigmented skin surrounding the nipple), in the armpit or through the navel. A pocket is created for the implant either behind the breast tissue or behind the muscle between the breast and the chest wall. Depending on the type and manufacturer of your breast implant, the implant may be already filled and placed inside the pocket as is, or it may be flat and then rolled while attached to a small tube. This type of implant allows the surgeon to insert the implant through a small incision and "tunnel" it under the skin and place it into the pocket where it is then filled (with saline) to the desired size. The small tube is removed and the breast implant remains filled and permanently sealed. Additional Procedures that may Enhance the Result:Mastopexy (breast lift) – if the breasts are saggy in addition to being small. Recuperation and Healing:The patient goes home in an elastic "ace" wrap and dressing, which helps hold the breasts in the correct position. Initial discomfort is controlled with oral medication. Sutures are usually removed in 12-14 days. Light activities can be resumed as tolerated. Aerobic activities can be started in about 3 weeks. Moving the implants within the breast pockets during the postoperative period may reduce the frequency of wrinkling or firmness. Intended Result:Larger and more shapely breasts.
